How To Transfer Old Lenses Into New Metal Frames

 Here are the steps on how to replace your frame using the same lenses:



  1. Gather your materials. You will need your old glasses frames, your new glasses frames, a screwdriver (if needed), and a soft cloth.
  2. Remove the lenses from your old frames. There are usually two small screws on the sides of the frames that hold the lenses in place. Use the screwdriver to remove the screws. Once the screws are removed, you should be able to gently pry the lenses out of the frames.
  3. Clean the lenses. Use the soft cloth to clean the lenses of your old frames. This will help to remove any dirt or fingerprints that could damage the new lenses.
  4. Insert the lenses into your new frames. Make sure that the lenses are oriented correctly. The edges of the lenses should line up with the edges of the frames.
  5. Secure the lenses in place. If your new frames have screws, use the screwdriver to screw them back in. If your new frames do not have screws, there may be small clips or tabs that hold the lenses in place. Gently press the lenses into place until they are secure.
  6. Try on your new glasses frames. Make sure that they fit comfortably and that the lenses are not blurry. If you are happy with the fit and the lenses, you are finished!

Here are some additional tips:

  • If you are not comfortable removing the lenses from your old frames, you can take them to a Repair Technician, we will be able to remove the lenses for you and install them in your new frames.
  • Make sure that the new frames you purchase are the same size as your old frames. This will ensure that they fit comfortably and that the lenses are the correct distance from your eyes.
  • If your new frames have a different prescription than your old frames, you will need to take them to an optician to have the lenses adjusted.
